Congratulations to the Trimontium Museum Trust, Melrose

  • Submitted by: Christine Grahame, Midlothian South, Tweeddale and Lauderdale, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 01 December 2020
  • Motion reference: S5M-23550

That the Parliament congratulates the Trimontium Museum Trust in Melrose on being awarded £7,500 from Museums Galleries Scotland’s Recovery and Resilience Fund, which aims to secure the future of Scotland's independent museums that have been put at risk by the COVID-19 pandemic; understands that this will support a business planning review, a marketing and PR plan and the production of marketing materials; recognises the Trust’s important role in promoting and educating on the Borders’ Roman heritage by running a museum in Melrose devoted to telling the story of the Romans in the Scottish Borders and displaying finds from, and associated with, the nearby Trimontium Roman Fort; believes the continued existence of such community museums is an important part of preserving local histories and cultures, and sends its best wishes to all involved with the Trust.
