  • Submitted by: Rhoda Grant, Highlands and Islands, Scottish Labour.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 17 November 2020
  • Motion reference: S5M-23388

That the Parliament commends Advice Direct Scotland, which runs Scotland's national consumer advice service, consumeradvice.scot, and Trading Standards Scotland for the launch of National Consumer Week 2020, which runs from 16 to 22 November; understands that this year’s campaign will focus on "Online Shopping and Deliveries" and will encourage consumers, who are increasingly moving online due to COVID-19, to shop online safely, know their rights, look out for unfair delivery charges and ensure that they do not buy counterfeit goods, and acknowledges the important role of consumeradvice.scot and Trading Standards Scotland in helping consumers recognise and avoid online shopping scams while supporting legitimate businesses, as well as providing advice and support if something does go wrong.
