First Broxburn Academy Pupil to Reach Scottish National Debating Team

  • Submitted by: Jeremy Balfour, Lothian, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 18 June 2020
  • Motion reference: S5M-22090

That the Parliament congratulates Emma Bell, an S3 pupil at Broxburn Academy, who has made history by becoming the first-ever pupil from her school to make the Scottish National Debating Team; commends her on this incredible achievement as only five pupils in Scotland make the team every year, and considers that, for Emma to have managed this while in S3, is testament to how talented she is; wishes her and the team every success as they prepare to represent Scotland at the World Schools Debating Competition, which will be held online in July 2020, and notes that winning the competition would be an accolade that Scotland last achieved in 2012.
