  • Motion reference: S6M-12747

That the Parliament congratulates two organisations based in the Strathkelvin and Bearsden constituency on securing support through the National Lottery Community Fund in the most recent round of awards; understands that a total of £11,900 was received following successful applications from Bearsden in Bloom and East Dunbartonshire Befriending Service; commends Bearsden in Bloom, which it believes is a fantastic community group that works tirelessly to help clear litter from the area, to plant and maintain flowers and shrubs for all to enjoy, and to improve and instil pride in the local environment; understands that the group received a £4,900 grant to help complete a two-year gardening project to landscape a local space and create a large, oval flower bed; commends East Dunbartonshire Befriending Service, which received a £7,000 grant to run a series of events for its befriending network to help connect participants and support wellbeing; applauds the service’s efforts in challenging loneliness and social isolation to improve the quality of life of vulnerable constituents throughout the area, aged 18 years and over, and sends its very best wishes and thanks to all who give their time, energy and experience to support these groups to improve life for residents in Strathkelvin and Bearsden.
