To ask the Scottish Government what action is being taken to support people with body-focussed repetitive behaviours.

The government expects NHS boards to respond to the clinical needs of their population and of presenting individuals. To assist in providing effective, evidence-based treatments, the Scottish Government provides funding to NHS Education for Scotland to host the ‘Matrix’, an evidence-based guide for NHS boards on effective psychological treatments for a range of mental health issues, including repetitive behaviours. If there is an absence of strong evidence for the treatment of particular neurological conditions, the ‘Matrix’ advises that clinical judgment should be used if considering interventions which have been shown to be effective for similar problems in other adult populations. Where judged as clinically appropriate, medication may also be prescribed in the treatment of body-focused repetitive behaviours.
