Justice Committee 13 September 2016

The agenda for the day:

Decision on Taking Business in Private, European Union Reporter.

Decision on Taking Business in Private

The Convener (Margaret Mitchell)

Good morning and welcome to the fourth meeting of the Justice Committee in 2016. We have apologies from Douglas Ross.

Agenda item 1 is a decision on whether to take in private item 3, which is consideration of an approach paper for our inquiry into the role of the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service. Do we agree to take that item in private?

Members indicated agreement.

European Union Reporter

The Convener

Agenda item 2 is the appointment of a European Union reporter. I refer members to paper 1. Paragraph 4 of the paper outlines the role of the EU reporter. In addition, paragraph 5 outlines a proposed expanded role for the reporter in relation to reporting to the committee on issues that arise from the Brexit vote that are relevant to the committee’s remit. If there are no comments on the paper, are there any nominations for a reporter?

Oliver Mundell (Dumfriesshire) (Con)

Yes. I nominate Mary Fee.

The Convener

Mary Fee has been nominated. Are we all agreed that she should be the Justice Committee’s EU reporter?

Members indicated agreement.

The Convener

Thank you very much.

Item 3 concerns our inquiry into the role of the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service. We now move into private.

11:01 Meeting continued in private until 11:28.
