S5W-22798: Maurice Golden (West Scotland)

Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party

Date lodged: 24 April 2019

To ask the Scottish Government what steps it is taking to ensure that the introduction of a deposit return system (DRS) will not result in a smaller range of materials accepted by kerbside collection services.

Answered by: Roseanna Cunningham 2 May 2019

We are committed to supporting local authority kerbside collection arrangements alongside our deposit return scheme. We have engaged extensively with stakeholders on the design of that scheme and will set out next steps with its implementation shortly.

The current consultation on reforms to the packaging producer responsibility scheme also sets out proposals for how these reforms could support local authority kerbside collections in future.
