S5W-22630: Miles Briggs (Lothian)

Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party

Date lodged: 12 April 2019

To ask the Scottish Government what plans it has to introduce and implement a national obesity strategy for adults and children, and what discussions (a) ministers and (b) its officials have had on the issue since January 2014.

Answered by: Joe FitzPatrick 2 May 2019

In July 2018, the Scottish Government published A Healthier Future: Scotland’s Diet & Healthy Weight Delivery Plan . Our ambition is to halve childhood obesity by 2030, and significantly reduce diet-related health inequalities. We undertook wide consultation with stakeholders in developing the plan, and had numerous discussions with ministers and officials that have informed our proposals.
