S5W-22208: Neil Findlay (Lothian)

Scottish Labour

Date lodged: 18 March 2019

To ask the Scottish Government what plans it has to address the reported understaffing at Livingston fire station.

Answered by: Ash Denham 28 March 2019

The number of firefighters per head of population is higher in Scotland than other parts of the UK and decisions about the provision of resources is an operational matter for the Scottish Fire & Rescue Service.

In 2019-20 the Scottish Government will increase the funding to SFRS by £5.5 million to invest in service transformation plans. This is on top of the £15.5 million additional spending power provided this year – a level of funding not matched anywhere else in the UK.
