S5W-19572: Rhoda Grant (Highlands and Islands)

Scottish Labour

Date lodged: 24 October 2018

To ask the Scottish Government, further to the comment by the Cabinet Secretary for the Rural Economy on 13 September 2018 (Official Report, c. 45) that there is a “commitment to providing legislation to underpin Scotland’s status as a good food nation”, whether this legislation is included in the Programme for Government and, if not, (a) when it will be introduced and (b) whether it will provide details of what it will consist of.

Answered by: Fergus Ewing 2 November 2018

The Programme for Government published in September 2018 commits to seeking views in the autumn on what legislative measures might be required to underpin the significant work that is already being done to deliver our Good Food Nation ambition. A consultation paper is currently being prepared.
