To ask the Scottish Government what defines a "remote rural settlement" for the purpose of wind development.
Answered by: Paul Wheelhouse 5 October 2018
“Remote Rural Settlement” is defined in the Scottish Government Urban Rural Classification document as:
Areas with a population of less than 3,000 people, and with a drive time of over 30 minutes to a settlement of 10,000 or more
However, this definition is primarily used for statistical purposes and this would not be the sole planning factor when considering an area 'remote'.
