To ask the Scottish Government for what reason when a person joins it from a UK Government department it reportedly does not record the department that the person has come from.

While we do hold an “other government department” indicator on our electronic HR system, we don’t hold the details of specific departments electronically because this is not required for continuing employment or payroll purposes. This practice is in line with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
