S5W-18764: Michelle Ballantyne (South Scotland)

Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party

Date lodged: 12 September 2018

To ask the Scottish Government, in light of reports that, between July and August 2018, 49% of services arrived in Tweedbank on time, and 87% within five minutes, what action it is taking to improve the performance on the Borders Railway.

Answered by: Michael Matheson 25 September 2018

The Rail Industry is currently progressing a number of interventions to support the enhanced resilience of the Borders railway. This includes initiatives to further improve fleet reliability and infrastructure assets which were identified in the Donovan Independent Performance Review, and which will assist ScotRail to meet their contractual performance levels on a sustainable basis.
