S5W-13944: Rachael Hamilton (Ettrick, Roxburgh and Berwickshire)

Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party

Date lodged: 18 January 2018

To ask the Scottish Government which groups of people are eligible for oxygen on prescription.

Answered by: Aileen Campbell 30 January 2018

Oxygen therapy may be prescribed as a treatment for patients with hypoxaemia which may be due, but not limited to a number of chronic health conditions.

Clinicians are best placed to assess the most appropriate course of action for their patients. Patients receiving oxygen treatment are first assessed by an oxygen clinic that will determine if this treatment is suitable.
