Parliamentary Debates and Questions

S5W-12106: Bill Bowman (North East Scotland)

Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party

Date lodged: 19 October 2017

To ask the Scottish Government how much has been committed to NHS capital construction projects since 2007, and how this compares with funds spent on the training of medical staff.

Answered by: Shona Robison 1 November 2017

The NHS Capital budget since 2007 is highlighted in the first column. The totality of spend on medical training is not reported centrally, however NHS Education for Scotland report costs associated with medical undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and these are included in the second column. This will not include spending on medical training delivered by GP Practices and NHS Boards as GPs, Consultants and other medical staff are required to deliver training, or hold positions which are managerial in overseeing delivery of medical teaching.
