S5W-11949: Finlay Carson (Galloway and West Dumfries)

Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party

Date lodged: 11 October 2017

To ask the Scottish Government what its position is on the importance of landing scallop catches in Kirkcudbright and of local processing factories and associated shoreside infrastructure to the economy of Dumfries and Galloway.

Answered by: Fergus Ewing 3 November 2017

The Scottish Government recognises that the scallop fishery is highly important to Kirkcudbright and the economy of Dumfries and Galloway, as well as many other coastal communities around Scotland where it helps support jobs on vessels and onshore in processing and other auxiliary services.
