S5W-09749: Liam Kerr (North East Scotland)

Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party

Date lodged: 19 June 2017

To ask the Scottish Government how much Transport Scotland has raised from speed camera fines in each year since 2010.

Answered by: Humza Yousaf 18 July 2017

Through targeted safety camera enforcement and improving driver behaviour, the purpose of the Scottish Safety Cameras is to contribute to Scotland’s road safety vision and road safety targets as set out in the Scottish Government’s Road Safety Framework to 2020.

No money has been raised by Transport Scotland from safety camera fines from 2010 to date. Safety Cameras are operated by the relevant Safety Camera Units, not Transport Scotland and, since 2007, all fines raised from the operation of Safety Cameras have gone to the UK Treasury and this remains the case.
