S5O-01462: Bruce Crawford (Stirling)

Scottish National Party

Date lodged: 8 November 2017

To ask the Scottish Government what its position is on the importance of LEADER funding in supporting tourism and culture.

Answered by: Fiona Hyslop 15 November 2017

The Scottish Government recognises that LEADER's contribution is important to our rural communities. One of LEADER's priorities is to support projects that enhance tourism and culture. And over the EU funding period of 2014-2020 LEADER funding is providing £77 million across rural Scotland to do that. It is local communities who determine how LEADER funding is allocated. The project applicants have consulted and established local development strategies to help them to decide what projects to fund.
