S5W-05356: Miles Briggs (Lothian)

Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party

Date lodged: 6 December 2016

To ask the Scottish Government what its response is to concerns that too many drivers who may have caused death or serious injury are being convicted of careless driving rather than dangerous driving.

Answered by: Michael Matheson 14 December 2016

In any given case, decisions about prosecution are a matter for the Lord Advocate and decisions about conviction are a matter for the court. The Scottish Government does not comment on such matters.
