To ask the Scottish Government whether incidents of E.coli infection in the Carnoustie area have been confirmed as being caused by the same strain of E.coli O157:H7 that caused infections earlier in summer 2016.

Answered by: Shona Robison 6 October 2016

NHS Tayside Health Protection Team and Angus Council are currently investigating cases of E.coli O157 infection affecting a small number of children in the Angus area. The Incident Management Team for the national outbreak are in contact with those managing this investigation and initial information suggests that there may be a link to the national outbreak and investigations are ongoing. The places of residence of cases with the same strain of E. coli O157 are not being disclosed to protect patient confidentiality.
