Biography

Overview

I was one of the youngest MSPs elected in May 2016 and am proud to represent my home constituency of Dumfriesshire. Before being elected, I worked briefly for Shell, and at Westminster as a parliamentary aide. I went to school at Moffat Academy before studying law at Edinburgh University. I am married to Catherine and we have 1 daughter.

What motivated you to become an MSP?

I have always had a keen interest in politics and I want to make sure the voice of our area is heard at the highest levels. I really enjoy helping people with individual issues and trying to make a difference for our communities.

I am also determined to stand up for our rural and farming families and ensure that our public services remain as local as possible. Most importantly, I want to continue to make the case for Scotland's place at the heart of the United Kingdom.
