Sportscotland Funding Supports Edinburgh International Climbing Arena Project

  • Submitted by: Jeremy Balfour, Lothian, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Friday, 29 January 2021
  • Motion reference: S5M-24014

That the Parliament congratulates Edinburgh Leisure for receiving £41,750 from the sportscotland’s Sport Facilities Fund; notes the funding will contribute towards the building of a new slab wall at the Edinburgh International Climbing Arena; understands the addition of a new slab wall will allow Edinburgh Leisure to provide more access to the sport of climbing, from beginners to intermediate level, and acknowledges that the new wall will be particularly beneficial in creating more opportunities for the Community Access Programme, which targets those who might need additional support to get active, such as people with disabilities, LGBTI groups, and care-experienced children.
