Samaritans' Brew Monday 2021

  • Submitted by: Alexander Stewart, Mid Scotland and Fife, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Friday, 15 January 2021
  • Motion reference: S5M-23867

That the Parliament welcomes the Samaritans’ Brew Monday initiative, which for 2021 begins on 18 January; notes that the third Monday in January is known as "Blue Monday" but that the Samaritans hope to turn this day into something positive by encouraging people to get together over a warming virtual "cuppa" and to reach out to a friend, family member or colleague; highlights that it does not have to be a Monday or a cup of tea but can just be taking the time to listen to another person and help them work through what is on their mind and anything they are dealing with, and commends the Samaritans for their tireless work in highlighting mental health issues and their ongoing support of everyone who may be suffering extreme difficulty, whether this be at home, in the workplace, in schools, in prisons, in the military or in health and care.
