Cub Scout Cameron Recognised for his Bravery

  • Submitted by: Alexander Burnett, Aberdeenshire West, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Monday, 21 December 2020
  • Motion reference: S5M-23759

That the Parliament commends Cameron Barnes, aged nine, for his quick response and bravery after a fire broke out in his home in Insch, Aberdeenshire; understands that Cameron, who is a Cub Scout, knew to keep the door closed after noticing the fire in the early hours of the morning in the kitchen, preventing it from spreading throughout the building; acknowledges that he calmly woke up his family who then called 999; recognises that Cameron will be awarded a Chief Officer Commendation Certificate from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and the Scout Gilt Cross for Gallantry for his inspirational efforts, and wishes Cameron and his family all the best for the future.
