  • Submitted by: Sandra White, Glasgow Kelvin, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 16 December 2020
  • Motion reference: S5M-23721

That the Parliament congratulates the Woodside Health & Care Centre on winning the Glasgow Institute of Architects Design Award; understands that the new health centre impressed panellists with the way in which the design works within a dense urban site but delivers a light and spacious environment for patients and staff; notes that the £20 million health centre opened in 2019 and was delivered as a partnership with NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership, Glasgow City Council and Development Partner Hub West Scotland and their main contractor, Morgan Sindall; recognises that this development also benefited from expertise and funding provided by the Green Exercise Partnership, as well as being part of wider partnership work led by Scottish Canals aimed at enhancing the surrounding natural environment and promoting healthier lifestyles; notes that the Woodside Health & Care Centre brings together a range of primary and community care services that were located across various sites in Glasgow to provide a more integrated and efficient service for the local community; welcomes the broad range of services that this site offers, which include eight GP practises, children’s services, district nursing, health visiting, alcohol and drug recovery services, a day centre for older people, a dental practice, and physiotherapy, podiatry and sexual health services, and wishes everyone involved with the creation and operation of this site every continued success in serving the people of Glasgow through the buildings they create and the health services they offer.
