Johnnie’s Journey, Challenging NET Cancer

That the Parliament congratulates Johnnie Meechan, who is from Tranent, and his team of supporters, on the success of the Johnnie’s Journey campaign, which raises funds for and awareness of neuroendocrine tumour (NET) cancer; notes that this condition develop from cells of the neuroendocrine system, with around 4,000 new cases diagnosed each year in the UK; understands that, following his own diagnosis, Johnnie has organised countless fundraising events and activities over the last five years, both for Johnnie’s Journey and other charities, all with the common theme of helping others; notes that Johnnie, who is a Daily Record Hero and Fundraising Hero of the Year, and his team are currently running a food bank drive in the run-up to Christmas to support food banks; congratulates Johnnie, his family and friends on their fantastic fundraising and awareness-raising efforts; encourages everyone to visit facebook.com/johnniemeeksjourney/ to find out more about the campaign, and urges the Scottish Government to do more to support awareness and understanding of NET cancer.
