Friends of Stonehaven Open Air Pool

  • Submitted by: Peter Chapman, North East Scotland, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 03 December 2020
  • Motion reference: S5M-23594

That the Parliament congratulates the many volunteers of the heated open air pool in Stonehaven who worked so hard to ensure that the reopening of the pool, which has been closed for the first time since the Second World War due to the pandemic, can take place in 2021; notes that the Friends of the Pool Group worked with Live Life Aberdeenshire to revamp the pool during its closure by repainting internal fixtures and external walls, clearing vegetation and landscaping the grounds by laying paving stones and spreading some five tonnes of gravel in the process; welcomes the £50,000 funding provided by the group for a new chute for the enjoyment of young and old, and the 1,000 hours of voluntary work involved in the process; recognises that Aberdeenshire Council provided a generous 50% of the funding for the materials used in the revamp, and commends the Friends of the Pool Group and everyone involved for their sterling work and community spirit.
