  • Date lodged: Monday, 30 November 2020
  • Motion reference: S5M-23514

That the Parliament congratulates East Kilbride’s Duncanrig Secondary School on being awarded Education Partner of the Year from the EY Foundation, which is a charity that works with young people across the UK to realise their career ambitions and is supported by the international business consultancy firm, Ernst and Young; recognises that this award was granted for the work carried out by the school in supporting and training young people in the development of a range of employability skills through programmes such as Smart Futures, S3-S4 Employability Workshops and Young Women’s and Young Men’s Networks; recognises the commitment and enthusiasm of the deputy headteacher, Ingrid Boyd, and science teacher, Drew Sinclair, who have been at the forefront of the partnership with the EY Foundation, and agrees with the EY Foundation that "the young people from Duncanrig are always so switched on" and that "with dedicated teachers encouraging their pupils to get involved in activities that develop their employability skills, the futures of Scotland’s young people are in very safe hands".
