  • Submitted by: Clare Adamson, Motherwell and Wishaw, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 18 November 2020
  • Motion reference: S5M-23400

That the Parliament congratulates 13 young people from the Motherwell area on receiving Saltire Awards for Volunteering with projects run by the Motherwell Community Learning Development Youth Work Team; understands that Clare Mcvey, Niamh Kellachan, Ellie Murphy, Chloe Henderson, Luke McDonald, Daniel Breslin, Emma Jane Doak, Gary Gilchrist, Kai Etherington, Rebecca Kane, Daisy Patterson, Ross Kellachan and Sam Kidd dedicated between 25 and 500 hours to projects such as the Motherwell LGBT+ group, Youth Forum and Duke of Edinburgh open group, and helping other young people to engage in learning opportunities in their community; notes that most of these young people gave up their Summer holidays to volunteer with the local hub for children of key workers based in Ravenscraig Sports Facility, helping to provide activities for the children of frontline NHS and emergency services staff during the first peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, and wishes all young people involved in community volunteering the best for their future.
