  • Motion reference: S5M-23389

That the Parliament recognises the hard work of the Aberdeen-based charity, Somebody Cares, which has been active since 2002, in providing food, clothing, furniture and more all free of charge to some of the most vulnerable and marginalised members of society; understands that, in 2019, it gave away over £545,000 of goods and diverted over 521 tonnes from landfill through fully or partially furnishing over 2,600 homes, providing over 11,000 food bags and huge quantities of clothes; acknowledges that the charity continues to provide essential support for adults, children and older people needing help in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire during the COVID-19 pandemic, including providing more than 50,000 meals and over 300 supermarket trays of food during the 15-week lockdown period and furnishing between 30 to 40 homes every single week; commends its staff and volunteers for their dedication and resilience, and wishes them well in continuing to support people in the community who are most in need.
