Stonehaven and District Men’s Shed Awarded Member Group of the Year

That the Parliament congratulates Stonehaven and District Men’s Shed on winning the 2020 Age Scotland Member Group of the Year Award in recognition of the hard work of its trustees and members who have raised over £105,000 of funding for the renovation and start-up of the facility and have carried out over 3,000 hours of additional work to enhance the condition of this valuable community asset; commends the efforts of the Shed in enhancing the mental and physical health of older people by encouraging social interaction through shared activities; acknowledges its valuable work together with the Rotary Club of Stonehaven as the focal point in Scotland for the Legs4Africa project, in which prosthetic limbs are stripped down to component parts and sent to The Gambia, Senegal and Zambia where they are modified and rebuilt to suit people who have lost limbs, and wishes everyone involved in the Men’s Shed movement continued success in making a positive difference in Stonehaven and beyond.
