  • Submitted by: Maurice Golden, West Scotland, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 10 November 2020
  • Motion reference: S5M-23300

That the Parliament welcomes the publication of the retail industry’s new Climate Action Roadmap and the ambition to achieve net zero by 2040; notes that the Roadmap has been co-ordinated by the Scottish Retail Consortium and its sister organisations across the UK and that the 60-plus signatories include Scottish-headquartered retailers such as Scotmid and Schuh; welcomes the commitments that it contains and the guidance and support it offers to assist the retail industry to decarbonise stores by 2030, deliveries by 2035 and products by 2040, working in tandem with government and suppliers, while helping customers and employees to live low-carbon lifestyles, and commends this industry-leading and responsible initiative from retailers to help build a fairer, more sustainable economy.
