Glasgow Airport, Airport of the Year for the Second Consecutive Year

  • Submitted by: George Adam, Paisley, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Friday, 30 October 2020
  • Motion reference: S5M-23203

That the Parliament congratulates Glasgow Airport on being named Airport of the Year at the Scottish Transport Awards for the second year in a row, after being shortlisted alongside Aberdeen International, which is also part of AGS Airports Ltd group, and Inverness; acknowledges the challenges 2020 has brought for the transport sector and recognises the incredible efforts and achievements of everyone working at the airport, despite the current climate; understands that, in addition to being Scotland’s largest charter hub, Glasgow serves more Scottish destinations than any other airport and is a key component of Scotland’s transport infrastructure, supporting over 30,000 jobs across the country and generating £1.44 billion (GVA) annually, and praises everyone involved in achieving this win and continuing to deliver high levels of customer service during what has been an incredibly challenging year.
