Crohn’s & Colitis UK and its Partners Win Resource of the Year Award

  • Submitted by: Pauline McNeill, Glasgow, Scottish Labour.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 30 September 2020
  • Motion reference: S5M-22894

That the Parliament congratulates Crohn’s & Colitis UK and its partners on winning the Resource of the Year category at the Health and Social Care Alliance Scotland (ALLIANCE) Self Management Awards; notes that the organisation and representatives from NHS Lothian, NHS Grampian, NHS Borders and the Scottish Government worked together to develop a "flare card" for people living with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD); understands that the important self-management resource was developed through a co-design process that saw people living with IBD involved at every stage of the project; recognises that the tool, which is being piloted in NHS Lothian, NHS Grampian and NHS Borders, supports people to recognise flare symptoms, signpost them to appropriate support and reduces demand for emergency care, and wishes the initiative every success in the future.
