  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 22 September 2020

As an amendment to motion S5M-22780 in the name of Jamie Greene (Prioritising Education Over Independence), insert at end "; further believes that it is critical that there is a focus on making Scottish education the best again; calls on the Scottish Government to therefore bring forward new plans to accelerate the existing timetable for the entitlement to 1,140 hours of high-quality and flexible early learning and childcare, strengthen the Pupil Equity Fund to recognise the urgent need for additional catch-up support for these pupils, provide for the safe operation of schools and guarantee that staff and pupils can access testing quickly and benefit from a robust Test and Protect system, secure additional teaching and support staff, urgently set out how it will address concerns raised in the Morgan Review, transform mental health provision, provide financial support to outdoor education centres to prevent their closure and the loss of critical opportunities for pupils, help colleges and universities prepare to train and retrain more people with a particular focus on a green recovery, and further calls on the Scottish Government to request in its discussions with the OECD that it produces an interim report as part of its independent review before the conclusion of the parliamentary session."
