Robert Gordon University, Scottish University of the Year

  • Submitted by: Maureen Watt, Aberdeen South and North Kincardine, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Monday, 21 September 2020
  • Motion reference: S5M-22755

That the Parliament recognises that Aberdeen’s Robert Gordon University has been named Scottish University of the Year in The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2021; notes that the main factors behind the university’s award are its strong focus on graduate employability, which sees 78.5% of graduates secure high-skilled jobs or postgraduate study within 15 months of leaving, its strong links with the offshore industry based in Aberdeen, and its strong showing for levels of student satisfaction; further notes that the university is one of Scotland’s largest providers of graduate apprenticeships, with 475 scheduled to be enrolled at its Aberdeen campus for 2021-22, and congratulates everyone at the university whose hard work and dedication has made this richly deserved award possible.
