Fifth Anniversary of the Borders Railway

  • Submitted by: Colin Beattie, Midlothian North and Musselburgh, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 15 September 2020
  • Motion reference: S5M-22724

That the Parliament recognises the fifth anniversary of the Borders Railway, which opened in 2015; welcomes this network; believes that it provides an accessible route that easily connects communities in the Borders with the rest of Scotland; considers that it has been a catalyst for social and economic change and has generated inward investment to communities, which has included the construction of 10,000 new homes and 150 hectares of land for commercial use near the railway corridor, as well as providing jobs for people across Midlothian, Edinburgh and the Borders, and wishes all involved with the Borders Railway all the best.
