Douglas Ewart High School Given International Blue Flag of Peace Award

That the Parliament congratulates Douglas Ewart High School in Newton Stewart on being the first school in Scotland and the UK to gain the International Blue Flag of Peace Award; understands that the recognition was given to S4, S5 and S6 pupils by the Rotary Peace Advocate Project organised by the UN Champion of Peace; notes that the award is based upon conflict resolution, and that the school pupils engaged with this by identifying and resolving conflict within their own lives, at home, at school and in the local community; commends them for this significant achievement, and thanks the teachers at Douglas Ewart High School, as well as the UN Champion of Peace, for the support and training given to the young people.
