End of an Era for John Leask & Son
- Submitted by: Beatrice Wishart, Shetland Islands, Scottish Liberal Democrats.
- Date lodged: Tuesday, 18 August 2020
- Motion reference: S5M-22458
That the Parliament notes that 16 August 2020 marked the last John Leask & Son bus service after more than a century in business providing public, school and tourist services; notes that the company was founded in 1919 by John Leask and remained in the family for three generations; understands that the last bus returned to the Viking Bus station in Lerwick from Sumburgh, accompanied by a convoy of other Shetland bus operators; thanks all the staff at John Leask & Son for their service to the Shetland community, and wishes the owners, Peter Leask and Andrew Leask, a happy retirement.
