That the Parliament recognises the findings in the NFU Mutual 2020 Rural Crime Report; acknowledges that Scotland saw a 44% increase in insurance claims as a result of rural crime compared with 2018; understands that £2.3 million worth of claims were lodged in 2019; acknowledges that machinery theft and livestock theft and worrying are all forms of rural crime that cause significant losses to farmers’ livelihoods; believes that more action must be taken to tackle rural crime, and urges the Scottish Government to work collaboratively with Police Scotland to provide more resources in rural areas for tackling crime.
