Elaine Shallcross, World Shuvit Cancer Day

  • Submitted by: Gillian Martin, Aberdeenshire East, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Monday, 06 July 2020
  • Motion reference: S5M-22228

That the Parliament commends grandmother, Elaine Shallcross, of Ellon, for her #shuvitcancer campaign that has so far raised over £25,000 for breast cancer research through the University of Aberdeen Development Trust; understands that Elaine challenged herself to learn how to perform the skateboarding manoeuvre known as a "shuvit", which she had planned to perform on her birthday on 10 July 2020; notes with sadness however, that Elaine passed away before she could complete her challenge, but acknowledges that her family has vowed to continue fundraising in her honour; welcomes that 10 July will now be known as World Shuvit Cancer Day in memory of Elaine; applauds her fundraising efforts, offers its condolences to her family, and wishes them every success with World Shuvit Cancer Day and in their future fundraising efforts.
