Connect Alloa Awarded Funding from the Robertson Trust

That the Parliament congratulates Connect Alloa on being awarded funding for three years from the Robertson Trust to appoint a Project Leader; notes that the volunteer-run charity aims to provide a safe environment for young people and young adults with a focus on reducing social isolation by running youth groups twice weekly; understands that the Project Leader will facilitate a number of projects, including for volunteering, peer mentoring, healthy eating initiatives, social enterprise, creativity and community events; recognises the importance of Connect Alloa’s designated outcomes of reducing feelings of social isolation, increasing engagement with the community and improving its clients' confidence in social situations; notes that it was founded following research that suggested that young people in the area needed a supportive space to engage with each other and build confidence; believes that Connect Alloa has managed to make incredible progress up to this point, despite having with limited resources, thanks to its resilience and “make do” attitude; thanks Connect Alloa for its continued outstanding work in the community, and wishes it every success for the future.
