  • Submitted by: Donald Cameron, Highlands and Islands, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 17 June 2020
  • Motion reference: S5M-22063

That the Parliament congratulates BBC ALBA on its success in winning a prestigious award at the Prix Jeunesse International 2020, an international festival that promotes television for young people; notes that the subject of the award, Gaisgich Òga an Dàrna Cogaidh (Kids of Courage), is an inspiring documentary-drama that tells the story of children from Europe and beyond who lived through the Second World War, using diaries and letters to bring their world to life, and that the episode concerned dramatised events in 1941 when Clydebank was bombed; commends this imaginative undertaking by BBC ALBA, which has helped to create a better understanding of an important period in recent history, and notes that the project provided young Gaelic actors with an opportunity to work in drama at a European level.
