Inauguration of the 15th President of Taiwan

That the Parliament acknowledges the inauguration of the 15th President, Dr Tsai Ing-wen, and Vice President, Dr Lai Ching-te of the ROC (Taiwan) on 20 May 2020; understands that the President won a record 8.17 million votes, representing 57.1% of the popular vote and the highest vote share won by a Democratic Progressive Party candidate in the presidential elections; acknowledges that Dr Tsai Ing-wen is the first woman to hold the vice-presidency and that this success represents her second term; acknowledges that the election had a turnout of 74.9%, the highest among nationwide elections since 2008, and sends its congratulations to the President and Vice President on their inauguration in these challenging times.
