Thanking the Armed Forces During the Coronavirus Outbreak

  • Submitted by: Jamie Halcro Johnston, Highlands and Islands, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 04 June 2020
  • Motion reference: S5M-21938

That the Parliament extends its thanks to Her Majesty's Armed Forces for their efforts during the COVID-19 outbreak; recognises that personnel from across the services have been heavily involved in the response to the pandemic in Scotland, including supporting the construction of the NHS Louisa Jordan in Glasgow, as well as the other Nightingale hospitals across the rest of the UK; understands that the armed forces have provided much-needed logistical support to civilian authorities in some of Scotland’s most remote and rural communities; acknowledges that, alongside other frontline workers, service personnel have put themselves in harm's way to help save lives, complementing existing COVID-19 testing facilities, and pays tribute to the bravery and hard work of the Armed Forces who always stand ready to help during emergencies at home and abroad.
