Commending Strathkelvin Battalion Boys’ Brigade

  • Submitted by: Maurice Golden, West Scotland, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Monday, 18 May 2020
  • Motion reference: S5M-21776

That the Parliament commends Strathkelvin Battalion Boys’ Brigade for continuing to support the education and growth of young people during the COVID-19 outbreak; understands that, despite no longer holding face-to-face events, the battalion still provides opportunities to get active, be creative and have fun through its BBatHome programme, including the work of 1st Kirkintilloch Company to engage with members at home through a range of activities, such as competitions; notes that the BBatHome resource packs for children aged from five to 11, and older, are freely available to everyone from the Boys’ Brigade website; recognises the positive contribution that the Boys’ Brigade is making to the local community in Strathkelvin, and across Scotland, such as the tributes shown each Thursday night by members of 1st Campsie, 1st Torrance, 1st Chryston and 1st Lenzie, who have been playing bagpipes as a salute and thank you to key workers, and wishes Strathkelvin and other battalions across Scotland continued success in engaging with young people and supporting their local communities.
