Ellie Monk, Scottish Women’s Open Winner

  • Submitted by: Liz Smith, Mid Scotland and Fife, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 24 April 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-12966

That the Parliament sends its congratulations to Ellie Monk, winner of the 2024 Helen Holm Scottish Women’s Open; understands that the University of St Andrews biology student secured rounds of 75, 72, and, on the final day, 71, to win the competition held at Royal Troon Golf Club; notes that two further students, Megan Ashley and Lucy Jamieson, also achieved joint sixth place, underlining what it sees as the strength of the University of St Andrews sporting scholarships in developing young talent; understands that Ellie Monk credited her victory to a solid play off the tee and the guidance of her caddie, Roddy McAuley, and wishes the rising golf star the best of luck for future competitions.
