Earth in Common Initiative Nominated for My Place Awards 2024

  • Submitted by: Miles Briggs, Lothian, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 23 April 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-12951

That the Parliament recognises Earth in Common, a grassroots group of mothers determined to see improvements in quality of life for children in built up areas; notes that this includes a small piece of land on Leith Links turned into a new "urban croft" for the good of the community; believes that initiatives such as the Beating Heart of the Croft are key in increasing participation in agricultural and growing activities for those born and raised in towns and cities; understands that activities that involve cultivating the land are scientifically proven and noted by the British Psychological Society as being of great benefit to mental health, and congratulates the organisation for being shortlisted for the My Place Awards 2024.
