  • Submitted by: Daniel Johnson, Edinburgh Southern, Scottish Labour.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 23 January 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-11938

That the Parliament expresses thanks and gratitude to David Dempster for his service to Boroughmuir High School, and wishes him well for his retirement in 2024; commends David for what it sees as a highly successful tenure as head teacher and the many successes that he has delivered at one of Scotland’s leading secondary schools; highlights what it considers to be the positive impact that he has had on lives of the many young people who have studied at Boroughmuir; notes the school's successful move to its new world-class campus in Fountainbridge; praises what it sees as the outstanding academic achievement of the school on a national level, including the successful introduction of Mandarin into its modern language provision through its Chinese Language Centre; notes the alumni who have been successful, it believes, as a result of the school's teaching methods and its proud community, especially those who have reached the rank of "Time Lord", and wishes the best of luck to the next head teacher of the school.
