To ask the Scottish Government what it is doing to identify children, young people and adults with dyslexia.

We provide free professional learning opportunities for practitioners in order to support education authorities to meet their duties under the Additional Support for Learning Act – including identifying, providing for, and reviewing the additional support needs of all their pupils. These support practitioners to further develop their knowledge, understanding and skills in supporting learners with dyslexia, including through the Addressing Dyslexia Toolkit and the Dyslexia and Inclusive Practice online professional learning modules.

The Scottish Government provides funding to Dyslexia Scotland who provide support to adults with dyslexia.

To ask the Scottish Government what it is doing to tackle the use of new psychoactive substances in prisons.

I hope you will understand that it would be inappropriate to place into the public domain specific details about all of the responses deployed to reduce illicit drug use in Scottish prisons.

I can however advise that the Scottish Prison Service (SPS) has established a Strategic Risk and Threat Group to identify emerging threats and coordinate tactical responses across the prison estate.

Tactical measures are supported by various technologies, including
‎ X-ray machines, body scanners and other equipment which can assist in detecting attempts to introduce illicit substances to prisons. SPS also has a number of drug detection dogs.

SPS and Police Scotland continue to work closely to prevent the introduction of illicit substances and seek convictions where appropriate.

To ask the Scottish Government what the timetable is for the (a) establishment and (b) full implementation of its proposed publicly-funded energy company.

The outline business case for the public energy company is currently underway and we will publish it once we have considered the consultants final report along with our local authority partners. Once completed it will help inform the Scottish Government’s further discussions with local authorities as to how we can work together to deliver the ambition of a public energy company and its associated benefits. In light of these discussions, we expect to publish the outline business case alongside a consultation regarding the vision for and format of the public energy company.

It remains our intention, subject to the findings on the business case, to deliver by the end of this Parliament a “white label” arrangement as the first phase in the development of the public energy company.
